God-Centered
We strive to make our worship God-Centered in all things. Our goal is not to be seeker sensitive or to entertain. Rather we want to point people to the fountain of all life and joy, namely Jesus Christ.
Bible-Saturated
We believe the way that God is put on display is through his Word. Consequently, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and to teaching (1 Tim. 4:13) and, especially, preaching (2 Tim. 4:2).
Sacramental
Because we believe that the sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper) are God’s visible Word to us, we give attention to them. For us, this means that we participate in the ordinance of Holy Communion four times per month and baptisms when it is appropriate.
We at Pilgrim Presbyterian hold to the blessing of observing the Lord’s Day as a special day of rest and worship. We pass this same truth on to our children in that we endeavor to make the day different than the other six. First, we are blessed through the special gathering of God’s people. The children are able to be with their friends from church in a way uncommon to the rest of the week. Secondly, we are blessed because we can learn more about God from the scriptures and Christian teachers. It is an opportunity to bring unbelieving friends to our classes to hear the gospel. The play on a day of rest might resemble the play on a day when you stay home from school because you need rest. It’s a day of quiet play. It’s a day to be quiet and think about God; what He has made and continues to do. It’s a day to be helpful and kind. The “bookends” of the day are the corporate worship of God. What goes on in between should be especially pleasing to Him.
We welcome our friends and visitors to enter into the joy of resting in the Lord here amongst His people on the Lord’s special day.
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land, and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” –Isaiah 58:13-14
